BGL Monthly - June 2008 - CAS

CAS Version 11.0 (23/04/2008) is currently available on our web site. To download the latest update, please log in to the BGL Client Centre.

The CAS team have officially appointed our new Assistant Product Manager, Warren Renden.

Warren has been part of the team for several months, working towards a permanent position within the CAS team. Warren has added excellent value to the CAS team and all CAS clients.

Warren will help the CAS team to continue to provide outstanding software, and maintain the highest level of service to all clients.

The latest version of CASNet has been completed. The CAS team is currently completing the final stages of testing. The CAS update will be available in the first week of June.

Clients that require digital certificates to use for lodgement with ASIC, will no longer be able to acquire them from SecureNet. The CAS team is currently finalising changes to the code to accommodate for digital certificates acquired through Verisign. This will be released shortly.

Please note that digital certificates for use within CAS can only be issued by Verisign or SecureNet and no other provider.

The CAS Version 11 installation has been deployed successfully for many clients. The majority of issues clients experienced were directly related to the installation. This installation was extremely different to any prior installation of CAS. Clients handled this very well and the time spent putting together detailed manuals has certainly paid off.

We urge all clients to make sure that installation guides are read in their entirety before running any upgrades or installs. This will ensure a smooth transition for users each time any products change.

The new user interface has received excellent feedback from clients. The next release of CAS will have some additional changes to the interface that will once again give clients improved functionality.

Fixed Corporate Key

Corporate keys issued to companies on annual statements after 26 May 2008 will now be fixed. They won't automatically change each year. Until the new fixed key is issued, current corporate keys are still active.

• You will still see them printed on annual company statements each year for reference.

• You must still use the corporate key when lodging some paper forms.

• You can still use a corporate key to register for our online services.

You can still ask us to issue a new one at any time if you have concerns that someone has had unauthorised access to it—go to www.asic.gov.au/corporatekey.

Registered agents can still ask for a corporate key to be changed, the new key will be sent to the company's registered office.

If a company appoints or ceases a registered agent, a new corporate key will be issued to the company.
